A Home on the Hill
Greystone a place that provides what I need
With stone tutor walls just two miles from the sea
Her tall steeple towers stand up tall towards the sky
This home rich in memories of eras gone by
A man with a vision the twenties did bring
And he built a mansion befit for a King
This rock home a gift to his young English bride
Where she’d feel at home and would love to reside
The home many years sat alone on the hill
Surrounded by forest in setting surreal
As others built round’ more the fame of it grew
From days as a gallery and parties it threw
This old tutor Manor played host to the best
With black tie events for her elegant guests
Her gardens a backdrop from art hung on walls
The breezeways a gallery from Spring time to Fall
The home would change hands many times through the years
Her gardens just memories had all disappeared
This manor so grand lay in waste and decay
And all but forgotten for many a day
A man so inspired as he stopped to pray
He’d rescue this home if God showed him the way
What seemed near impossible God knew was not
As Greystone was his long before he bought
His family worked hard many years to revive
The old Greystone Manor which soon came alive
But he always knew where this gift had come from
It couldn’t be earned like a prize to be won
For God intended that this place would be
A place to inspire what would set people free
And little by little his plan would be shown
What thought once for him wasn’t for him alone
This home was a gift to be given again
To artists and writers, musicians and friends
Renewal at Greystone was more than the home
But for all who’d stay in its walls made of stone
