Keddie Ledge
High on a ledge above the creek
Below the Park and Keddie Peak
Green Trestle Bridge just to the right
Your curved stacked stone wall stands so high
For time this place just disappeared
Lost to the growth of many years
‘Till you were found and recognized
A hillside perch from heaven sliced
With care your beauty once again
Is known to all who venture in
To sit and view all that you see
From this Ledge and her majesty
Inspire us to listen well
To all the stories you can tell
As lovers came and shared the sights
Artists to paint, poets to write
Oh, this Ledge is a magic place
That time and aging won’t erase
We sit in awe at all you share
Invited by your bright red chairs
And even when we have to go
A piece of us stays here you know
All those who come will think of you
This favorite Ledge with Keddie Views
Inspiration
Written while thinking about the overgrown ledge and its old rock walls, below Keddie Park, which I recently discovered during a morning walk
