Dining at Keddie Cafe
I stop to stretch at Keddie Lodge
And catch lunch at the old Café’
Up rounded stone steps towards the door
It’s Fir porch from another day
Through heavy Pine door, four feet wide
I step into a cozy room
Share warmth and glow from fresh stoked fire
And antler lights of Caribou
The peeled bark handrails lead upstairs
To rooms refitted for its guests
And past the check-in counter
Is a gift shop on the left
And opposite the gift shop
Double French doors lead me to
A Business Center filled with books
And wing back chairs to use
“Your table’s ready”, I was told
My waitress ushered me
Through charming dining room I stroll
To a table near the street
My vantage point, windows surround
The old porch roof and beams
As ceiling fans turned in reverse
Push down the rising heat
I view the menu “challenged”
Everything looks good to me
From garlic mashed potatoes
Ribs, pulled pork and pies to eat
My meal a feast made special
By the ambiance and views
Though flavor pallet satisfied
From homemade pies I’ll choose
The cherry pie so thick and tart
With filling silky sweet
Its glazed and scalloped weaved crust top
Still flakey can’t be beat
Whenever I come by this place
I’ll call a “Keddie Day”
To feast and languish in the charm
Found in this small Café’
Inspiration
Thinking about what Keddie Lodge & Café will be like when its renovation is complete and it’s been reopened for business
