My Patio

I sit beneath the tall umbrella in my rocking chair

On weathered wood footstool I’ll rest my feet

Large terracotta pots hold colored flowers warm and bright

As sunset cools the fire of summer’s heat

My patio sets high above the pool in my back yard

With ribbons of old brick to rim its crown

I watch a lop eared bunny hop across the short green grass

And stop to feed on clover it has found

The fire pit looks peaceful waiting silent in its place

With picnic table perched beneath the trees

The maiden statue neath’ the branches picturesque and free

Will share her rosebush garden with the bees

Our heart shaped chairs and table host their tile colored tops

The glow from lights inside light up the scene

I love how life slows down a bit when I just come outside

This place in my back yard is home to me
