Teach Us Old River

Raging river freely flowing

Rumbling through this great divide

Humbled by your awesome power

As you leave this mountain side

From the heavens and earths belly

You came forth so life could be

Yet I wonder is your passion

Filling all earths lakes and seas

Heavy rains and swirling rapids

Bring the sand onto your shores

Each grain part of giant boulders

Tumbled till’ they are no more

Share with us another lesson

As we sit and meditate

Help us nor your beauty spoil

Teach us before it’s too late

Unchanged course through the many centuries

Harnessed not your awesome flow

Giving us a sense of wonder

As we look on you below

Bathe us with your glistening showers

Standing near your water shed

Thank you for these memories sweetest

As we learn from all you’ve said
